Introduction
Plastics constitute a broad category of synthetic or semi-synthetic materials that contain polymers as their primary component, are often used in the production of various products, and nowadays are a major part of our lives. The use of plastic has had a profound effect on human health and the environment; this is an issue that is often overlooked or not considered when discussing the range of health problems associated with plastic use. In this module, we will explore the effects of plastic use on human health, analyze the relevant research, and consider the possible solutions to reducing the amount of plastic produced and disposed of. We will also discuss ways in which individuals can reduce their own plastic use to improve their health and reduce environmental impacts.
