Description of the Green Initiative
Every adult.
The initiative supports the zero-waste philosophy. ReUżytkownie is a place that aims to extend the life of objects and reduce consumerism. Another objective is to serve as an educational space for adults, support environmentally friendly education and to support people from Ukraine.
ReUżytkownia was established and operates on the basis of Polish Articles 6r (2) and 2aa of the Law on Maintaining Order and Cleanliness in Municipalities. These provisions allow allocating part of the funds from the fees collected from residents for municipal waste management to carry out environmental education on proper handling of municipal waste, and to establish and maintain repair and reuse points for products or parts of products that are not waste. The rules of operation of the initiative are set out in the regulations given by an order of the president of the city of Opole.
The main principles of the space are Bring -Repurpose -Use. Small-size items may be brought in.
Workshops on environmental issues are held periodically.
The place is also providing support for people from Ukraine by offering them products that are brought in by others.
Place of ecological education and exchanging things – the city of Opole received an award for innovation due to the focus on minimalism in the context of consumption.
The initiative can be an inspiration for other cities or schools to introduce similar workshops.
