Description of the Green Initiative

Target groups

Pupils and educators

Objectives

The “Schulen gegen Plastik” (Schools Against Plastic) campaign offers pupils the opportunity to contribute to solving the plastic crisis and to draw attention to this problem with their commitment.

Description

“Schulen gegen Plastik” informs schools about the environment and preservation of the environment, collects and provides funding for youth projects on the topic of sustainability, supports youth initiatives in the planning and implementation of projects, awards the annual “Schulen gegen Plastik” prize to schools and, on request, sends consultants to schools to provide information and implement changes together with the students.

Impact

“Schulen gegen Plastik” offers a comprehensive overview of already implemented projects, ideas and inspirations for future projects, as well as funding opportunities on their website. In the meantime, the initiative has developed into a nationwide network of schools and student initiatives.

Innovative elements

Thanks to the donations of numerous cooperation partners of "Schulen gegen Plastik", schools and youth initiatives are given the opportunity to obtain financial support for the implementation of their projects.

Transferability

The concept of an initiative that combines not only ideological but also financial values to directly support youth and schools in planning, implementing and financing their projects can be a model for other local, regional, national, and international initiatives to act not only as a network and facilitator, but also as a funding source.
